New York State is launching a Canadian advertising campaign focussed on attracting Canadians to upstate New York's activities and tourism destinations. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that an additional $500,000 US will be spent for tourism promotion, including newspaper and radio advertisements in French and English in eastern Canada. Canadians with some 4.2 million visitors annually, account for the largest number of international travellers to New York state. Recently in Quebec City, leaders of the Quebec Federation of Chambers, North Country Chamber and the Business Council of New York State signed a collaboration agreement intended to renew their commitment to work together. Florida has been going flat out trying to attract more Canadian tourists because their economy depends heavily on visitors from the big chill coming down for a visit. With the lower Canadian dollar, many Canadians have shelved their US vacation and are focussing on Mexico and Europe.
